About Us

We are a Washington nonprofit corporation and tax exempt under IRS 501c3 specializing in literary programming designed to foster community through public performance and dissemination of narrative arts and storytelling.

Our mission is to explore what it means to be human through stories.

We envision a world less lonely and more closely connected through sharing our narratives.

Our Story

Walking down their daily path on Rainier Trail, Chincha and Saira passed by the Train Depot, as they did every day. But on this particular day, Chincha broke gait and jumped up on the platform to the station, soon followed by Saira. The wooden boards creaked with their steps. They peeked into the depot, its dark plank walls bouncing with a sharp bark released unexpectedly from Chincha’s snout. The acoustics tickled their brains with a precise vector of speed, causing a sudden burst of awakening in their collective mind. “This is it, isn’t it?” they both thought.

Thus, Literary nights was born, a public, egalitarian open mic and literary salon to rest our aestheticized consumer bones and delight in each other’s stories poems and spoken word in the beautiful setting of historic Issaquah. And to eat cake. We’d love to be in community with you.
